V.W. Bro. Sidney Hale PGJO

Mark Masonry in general and the Southport, Ormskirk and Bootle Lodges in particular were saddened by the
passing of our dear friend and colleague Sid Hale on the 9th November 2012.

Sid had suffered deteriorating health for some two and a half years but he continued to attend Mark Lodges
whenever possible.

In Mark Masonry he was the senior member of Lathom Mark 268 having been advanced on 28th Dec 1965.
He was also an Honorary Member of Southport, Freshfield, and Fermor Mark Lodges. He was appointed
Special Representative for the area in May|1998 and held the post for 13 years.

Born in the Middleton area of Manchester Sid qualified as a chemist and worked in many areas of
Lancashire. His wife Mavis was a Schoolteacher in Southport for many years, they enjoyed numerous
holidays in their homes in the South of France and Tenerife, as well as cruises in various parts of the world.

Mavis died some 10 years ago  and Sid put even more work into his Masonry.

Sadly Sid just failed to hit his 50 years in Craft which he would have celebrated just 4 days after his
passing on the 9th Nov 2012.

The many brethren attending his funeral demonstrated the high esteem in which he was held. A lifelong
smoker, I have no doubt he has joined up with his friend and fellow smoker V.W.Bro Stan Smith enjoying a
cigarette in the Smokers Corner Above
